News: With HD-DVD Gone, Blu-Ray Player Pricing Goes Up

2008_03_13-cash-in-hand.jpgBut of course. While this doesn't really come as a surprise now that HD-DVD is out of the picture, we continue to wonder why the PS3, a Blu-ray player and gaming console, manages to remain cheaper than almost all of the standalone players out there. No where is this more evident than in the fact that my father purchase a PS3 simply for the Blu-ray player.

Click through to see how standalone Blu-ray player pricing has changed over the past three months.

Is this legal? I didn't know that companies were able to do this. Collusion or something like that?

The PS3 is the best for Blu-ray, as it also allows you to play MPEG 4 videos and Divix Videos that are stored on the Hard Drive or over the network. It can also be used a MP3 server and of course for gaming....

The PS3 is the way to go. In addition to offering games, the fact that it is network-capable makes it the clear winner. When all the stand-alone BluRay players are quickly outdated, the PS3 will be able to download new software, making it up-to-date. I love my PS3!
