apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

What's the Best Spot in the House for Rocking Out?

061509_tf_ipoddock1.jpgI've got to say that I adore my iHome iPod dock. I leave it in the living room of my apartment and it sits patiently and unobtrusively on the side table. That is, until I come home, yank off the iTrip gizmo and drop my fresh-from-the-car iPod Nano in there to rock out for the night. But lately, I've been kind of wishing I had an iPod dock in the bathroom, too. I'd love to be able to listen to music when I'm getting ready in the morning...

...and you know, while I'm making sure I have a compact iPod-connected speaker system in each desired room of the house, why not add one in the kitchen for when I'm cooking? Or in the bedroom for some soft sounds before I hit the sheets?

But while money's tight and I've put myself on a strict spending budget, I only have the one iPod dock. I've decided it gets the most use in the living room, so that's where my iHome will make it's home.

What about you guys? What room do you most like to have wired up with sound? Living room? Dining room? Bathroom? Kitchen? Tell us in the comments!

my mum has an old under the cabinet radio in our kitchen so I usually hook up my ipod through the an FM transmitter when I'm in there... same thing for when I'm in the bathroom taking a shower.

The wife and I like to have music in every room. We have PC speakers in every room (except the living room, where we have the AppleTV connected to the home theater system). This way we can easily take one of our 4 iPods into a room, plug it in, and rock out while we shower, cook, get ready for bed, or just chill. While I think that iHome and other systems are great, I don't understand why people don't just stock up on $10-$20 PC speakers. Most of these sound pretty fantastic, too.

I will say that the bathroom is the best room in which to rock. There is nothing like getting ready for work and setting the tone for the day with our favorite artists.

My home is alive with the sound of music...
