While the world watched in awe at the spectacular opening ceremony held this year in Beijing, China, we all were blown away by how much technology has allowed us to portray ideas and entertainment. However, for those who have missed it, I'm sure there will be another chance to watch it as it was one of the most spectacular shows we've ever seen. Our personal favorite -- the moving blocks that emulated a robotic-like pixel representation that was actually powered by people!

As more and more "faked" ceremony are parts are being revealed, I'm skeptical that this was legit -- during the ceremonies you could see fixed stands under the "movable type" on occasion.
Of course, they have the work force to pull something like this off, or it may have been some combination of computer-choreographed cues, with people being simply muscle...
Or maybe it really was fully memorized -- the real deal.
Either way, I agree, it was really cool -- and as someone who teaches letterpress printing with movable type, I had a personal affinity for it.....
