As long as the software hasn't changed there's no reason to buy the brand-new thing. Now, if what's in the trash is a 5yr-old powerbook with no "command" key, no "T" key, and the irritating tendency to freeze because the hamsters inside got sleepy.....time for an upgrade. (Ours is in a box in my trunk waiting to be dropped at fedex and returned to apple for recycling.)

Seriously, anyone finding their Macbook obsolete and needing for it to be disposed of, get into contact with me and I'll take that problem off your hands, ahah.

I am finally selling my PowerMac G4 Dual 1.25 that I've had for almost 6 years because I got a new iMac. My Photoshop requirements were pushing it to its limits. It's obsolete for ME now but, it kept me going through the entire G5 series.

The computers lifespan isn't based on how many new versions follow it rather, its usefulness to the user. Even though I'm done with it, I'm sure someone else will love it.

That's only what happens if he's downgrading from a 17" to a 15" MacBook Pro, the 17's didn't get overhauled.
