We can't even imagine how insane it would be to own the first ever Apple Macintosh Plus, serial number 0001. Auction House, Profiles in History, is starting the bidding wars for the historical piece next month. While you thought it couldn't get any cooler, turns out this very first model was given to Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry by Apple.
Planned for the auction block October 8th and 9th, it's estimated sale price is totally cheaper than a new Mac -- $800 and $1,200! While we like it when things are affordable we hope that the bidding war is ferocious in order to validate all nerds!

there is no way that this will sell for $800-$1200 -- The bidding war for something that is not only a piece of computer history, but a fanboy collectible as well will push the price waaaaay beyond that. Heck, I'm poor, and not a particular Star Trek fan, but I'd pay more than that for it.

I agree. This considering I sold a very clean 1989 Macintosh SE/30 with all of it's original equipment, paperwork, discs, and carrying case for $250 on eBay a couple of years ago. I can only imagine what a celebrity owned, first model would fetch.

People pay good money for kind of tech? I've got an original 1984 Mac, with an extra floppy drive and carrying case (and maybe even a matching dot-matrix printer) gathering dust in my parent's basement!

Hmm... I wonder if this was also the Mac used in "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home"? If so, James Doohan (Scotty) personally spoke into its mouse!
Now how much would you pay?
