DIY Pantry Light

2008_02_07 diy-pantry-light.jpgWe have a deep pantry and even with lighting right above and outside the door, trying to find something hidden in the back is near impossible without a flashlight.

This clever solution puts a simple pressure actuated switch, plastic watch holder and LED rope light together to solve the problem. I think I am going to have to try and rig up something like this.

Actually i've been searching everywhere for an integrated pressure actuated switch and light. Battery or plug in doesn't matter. I need one for my new home bar.

I just came across this new light at Ikea. It's meant for a drawer but maybe it would work in an application like this, too. The light comes on automatically when you open the drawer and then turns off automatically when you close the drawer.
