At Unplggd, we often find ourselves battling how to hide tech so it doesn't fight our home's style and interrupt life. Wrangling cords and hiding speakers are all part of the game here on a daily basis.
So to take such a clean, sleek and uncluttered room as this one and make the home theater components be the focus of the room is a ballsy and unique endeavor. We want to know: Do you like it? Let us know in the comments!
But we know one thing's for sure: We always love Crate & Barrel's leaning bookshelves for DVD and video game storage.

I really hate this... the speakers look like a bunch of monsters creeping up on the couch, or paparazzi hounding a movie star. Besides which, the decor -- or lack thereof -- doesn't seem calm, it seems stark and unwelcoming. It looks like a room for someone who lives inside their gadgets instead of in their house.

I'm all for showing off tech bling, heck I got a house full of LED lights. I think those speakers are a bit out of scale for the setup though. I understand creating a sweet spot but everything appears too close together. It also looks like a bunch of scary monsters watching you watch the screen. If it was all pulled back a little it probably wouldn't look so looming.

There's nothing that would say "California" here and it certainly isn't "Casual." It's pretty intense actually with bookshelf speakers looming over the viewer. And this room isn't really "designed." This is a room any newly graduated frat boy with a decent job (to buy the AV set up) can put together.

It's pretty clear this person is leaning heavily in the function direction (better sound quality) as opposed to the form direction (improved aesthetics). Especially with the sound absorbing panels on the front and back walls. I also agree with Joey - the speakers are a bit out of scale for the room.
It's essentially a dedicated media room as opposed to living room. Bet it sounds good, though...

My major problem is that there's almost zero style involved in this setup. The speaker stands are just way too big and industrial and the speakers are also way too big, I pity the neighbor who gets invited over to test-drive this home theater...

There is No decor. It's just speakers, SPEAkers, SPEAKERS!

Well personally I like this overall. I mean, yeah there really isn't much there as far as decor goes, but I'm guessing that is not what the point was. I do think that pulling the couch farther out would be a good idea, and maybe even get an "L" couch to make it seem friendlier, but I think being offended by the speakers is a reaction you'd feel if you really just don't care about sound quality. We have a similar set up(our speakers are smaller and we made it more of a gathering place than an individual viewing room) and personally I wish we had those speakers! They must sound amazing. If the point of the room is to be a home theater, then having more decor is really not the issue. I'm just disappointed that it doesn't look like more than 2 people can enjoy those babies at once!

Great set up using specialty speakers. Clearly set up this way for the best sound. You can see the bass traps on the wall to add to the sound in room. Looks like a great 5.1 system for someone who likes sound, or someone who spends time mixing/mastering music for a living. I dig it.

I see a lot of wasted space and bad feng shui here, but do I hate this? No. It's not for me, but I can see how someone would like the starkness of it.
