Short and sweet. We weren't sure what to make of aldebaran's workspace when we first spotted it. Comprised of three Lack side tables from Ikea, it sits low to the ground. Which might work well for peripheral access, but for actually working? Then we spotted the footstools underneath that allow you to pull up a seat. Probably not comfortable enough for heavy use, but an interesting idea nonetheless.

Some new tech is sorely needed! The setup looks lovely, but the monitor and printer are that ghastly old-person-teeth color that make everything around seem dated and depressing.

Kelly, thanks for featuring my home office! Actually the footstools are extra seating in the home office. I sit on the floor, cross-legged, while working on my laptop in this area.

Melanie, there are more updated hardware in other areas around the home office, this is only one side of my server room. This old display was my first LCD I ever bought and I feel it is more cost effective and environmentally sound to reuse old tech. I have therefore recommissioned this LCD to be used as an extended display for my powerbook. This setup works perfectly as the vertical resolution of both screens match exactly.

Serious techies always have old hardware around running servers or acting as auxiliary screens or housing some form of experimentation. Replacing perfectly good equipment because it's an unfashionable color just... just... nooooooooo!!!

Why are there used styrofoam coffee cups in this photo? I can't imagine sitting on the floor -how barbaric. An infusion of technology is sorely needed in this space.
