Flickr Finds: Alice's Simple Setup

2008-1-15saidalice.jpgLately we've been thinking about downsizing our office, so Alice's simple setup caught our eye. In a world of gear and wires, sometimes we long for a simple desk.

Alice's desk offers a flexible working and computering solution and sits nicely in a corner of her bedroom. She's edited her technology to the bare essentials: a laptop, cell phone, and task lamp. We wish we could be so frugal, and a setup like hers inspires us to strive for such simplicity.

Thanks for sharing Alice!

I'd like to know where the desk is from.

Had I known that my desk would be here under the impression of simplicity, I would have cleaned up a little! :)

The desk is the Offi Wave Desk in walnut.

Also, I do feel that I should mention that I was in design school several years ago and had the whole set up with the printers and scanners and docking stations and tablets and three computers. Then I bought a Mac. From there, it was all part of an existential crisis. Upon graduation, I had to get rid of everything. It was all baggage. I consolidated and everything that I didn't use on a daily basis went into the closet. Also, I have a Rubbermaid that rolls under the bed for easy access to important gadgets.

I bought the small desk for the purpose of keeping it simple. I mean, living in a smaller loft, there's no space for me to fall into must-have-all-new-cool-electronics-on-the-market. (Though I do admit to having a small problem with video games. *cough*)

Existential crisis
I love your set up and your desk. I have been lusting after that desk for awhile, but alas, now I moved into a studio and there is no room for that.

Where did you get the artwork?

The nurse is from http://www.neopop.de/

Christian is soSoSO nice. A pleasure doing business with him! Also, if you don't see something on the site that you know he's made in the past, I'm sure he can work with you. (He offered to paint me a smaller version of the nurse to cut shipping costs, but I wouldn't have it.)

The one that I bought is larger than it looks in the photo (and is fairly heavy), because of this, I would say either pick up a print or his postcards if you live in the US and are not willing to dish out more money for shipping than the painting (and at ~$350 USD for the painting, that's saying something).

But, again, his work is very fun and he's super nice.

(And knows English, if that matters to you.)
