A hidden office, in many small apartments it's a necessity. Jen shared with us a photo of her hidden office created in her brand new apartment in Toronto. Does it look familiar?

Well it should, her entire home office is housed in an IKEA Pax wardrobe. An idea she credits to her sister, a professional organizer based in Toronto.

What a great idea for when you want a built in without the expense, and we'd imagine it would be great for concealing cords. The frosted glass doors with bits of color peeking through add a nice touch to her decor. Our only worry is how comfortable is it to work with the cabinet at your feet?

This really is a good idea. Does any one think it would be possible to mount the shelf with the computer on it so that it clears the door creating a knee hole? How would you do that?

Beautiful place Jen!

Damn! 3 years! I waited two and I was starting to get a little psycho. I'm sure you were more than pleased though when you found out how much the other units are selling for now.

The kitchen backsplash is beautiful. You have so much natural light and with the white furnishings, blue backsplash and frosty glass it's very "sky" like.

Your built-in office has given me an idea for my built-in t.v. and storage nook. I have a four foot wide closet that I would like to finish like this.

Off to Ikea to a find Pax width.

I agree with Kelly. If I had to be in front of that laptop for an extended period of time I'm not sure how comfortable it would be. I like to stretch out my legs and put papers on the table.

Pax has a full length and depth pull out shelf that could either be mounted alone or underneath a fixed shelf to act as a giant keyboard drawer.

You could use a piano hinge the flips down or flips up with a bracket that swings out from the back to hold up the double shelf/table space.

I would end up putting my feet on the bottom shelf constantly; it's what I use the printer shelf on my current desk for (which is problematic because now I also need it to hold the printer).

The PAX is still 9 inches too wide for the space I have... *keeps looking*

We sort of did this with Billy for our media center -- the dome shaped iMac *just* fits. The deeper Pax is probably a better choice if this is your main spot for using the computer, though. The pull out shelf would make it more comfortable.

I love it. I also planned to use my old IKEA PAX wardorbes as an office, since I am having new closets built.

I would however get a pull out shelf for the laptop.

Very nice and clean looking! Do you have more pictures of your place? I just moved into a new apartment recently and I have a lot of white furniture (looks like you do too), and i have the same colored couch. I'd love to see how the rest of your place looks.

That hidden office looks bright new although I don't find it too comfortable. I would vote for some more comfortable office chairs, I need comfort when during work.
