It's a sad fact that I don't own a single holiday song, in any format. Just this week, however, my 4 year old has started demanding xmas songs every night at bedtime, so I've had to dredge them up from the dark recesses of my childhood brain, rusty, off key, and with incomplete lyrics. I really need to buy some xmas tunes and I appreciate all the suggestions here - Bruce and Eartha now on my list. My son, of course, is most interested in "Rudolph." My own childhood favorite, which I'll probably have to inflict on him: "A Christmas Together, with John Denver and the Muppets." Oh yeah.

Definitely white, shiny timeless white, to match my other white accents (which mostly don't exist yet, but we're getting there), brighten up my dark-ish living room, and offset my darker wood furniture.

Did I mention that I currently don't have a stereo of any kind, and I've been playing cd's on my crappy tv/dvd player? I'm just sayin'...

I would play "I'll be home for Christmas" (the original Bing Crosby version) because we just moved 12 hours (14 if driving with the baby) away from my family and friends and we won't be able to drive down to Missouri if the snow is as bad as predicted. We always sit around the record player in my Grandma's family room and listen to great classics like that. It would be great to carry on an updated version of the tradition with our son (especially since it's his first Christmas).

I would definitely pick the red because everything seems merrier coming out of such a nice color (and oh so appropriate for the season!)

We've just moved into a house in which the previous tenants felt it was a good idea to spray paint the cabinets with tremclad. So, a lovely new black sound system would spruce up the kitchen quite a bit (with two babies under two and at the tail end of a massive international move we don't have the money, time or energy to fix the cabinets at the moment). And, the song would have to be "Fairytale of New York" by the Pogues - still the best Holiday song in my opinion.

For me, it'd have to be a nostalgia party, playing Erlend Oye's cover of "Last Christmas," a sad one, but it brings back happy memories of my German 7th grade students learning all the words. Give me that song and a glass of gluehwein (spiced hot wine, yum!) and I'll be in the Christmas spirit.

It also reminds me of the friend who introduced me to the song, in Switzerland no less, and the very white Christmas we had that year. White please!

Well first I'd make the most of the sound quality by popping some Transiberian Orchestra on. I typically pretend that I hate them to my friends and family (my ears are actually burning this second as I type it), but they do sound pretty darn good loud. Particularly "Carol of the Bells." Then I'd put on Leon Redbone and Zoey Deschanel's "Baby It's Cold Outside." It's holiday-themed, smooth, and almost naughty. Perfect.

This is perfect... I've been looking at these types of systems for years but never got one.
Perhaps it's not original, but I'm going to have to go with BLACK and David Bowie & Bing Crosby singing "Little Drummer Boy".

The overwrought but still somehow brilliant "Do They Know Its Christmas" - it's got something for everyone! Boy George! Bono! Simon LeBon! And a nice reminder to feed the world, no matter how dated said reminder may be.

    White would be lovely :)

Vince Guaraldi's classic A Charlie Brown Christmas would be playing out of a RED one for me!

I'm going with "Christmas in Hollis" by Run-DMC. It's got good beats and, one of their moms was in the video. It's also one of the few Christmas songs that doesn't make my teeth hurt.

I'd like the Geneva Sound System in red, please. That picture is irresistible.

We have a Christmas CD that I think we got at the grocery store, years ago. It includes some totally cheesetastic, disco-esque versions of holiday classics. I would love to hear that CD blaring out of a white Geneva Sound System.

    Oh so so purty.

I'd most definitely play "im getting nuthin' for christmas" on the white. Such a fun song about a little boy who continues to get in trouble because he can't stop being a kid. Love it!

As a kid, I was cast-- and *repeatedly,* I might add-- in our local theater's production of "Scrooge!" I worked my way up from 2nd Smallest Cratchit Child to Eldest Cratchit Child to Head Ruffian to Fezziwig Party Guest (With grown-up clothes, even!) over the years. So for me, Christmas is inextricably entwined with the music of Leslie Bricusse and the score of "Scrooge!". If I had the white one (white, like the snows falling on Camden Town, or the ethereal gown of the Ghost of Christmas Past), I'd be recalling eight years' worth of "step-ball-change, turn, kick!" in my living room while singing "Father Christmas."

Or perhaps "Thank You Very Much" would be more appropriate?

    God bless us every one!

i feel it in my fingers, i feel it in my toes, Christmas is all around me... from "Love actually"... and it has to be REd.

Ooh, Slade's "Merry Christmas Everybody"! I'd blast it out of a beautiful black Geneva Sound System.

i would play "just like christmas" by low on a red geneva sound system. i think the drums would sound nice...if the the system is as good as its $500 price tag suggests!

I'd be so happy with any color, but black would likely be my first choice. Oh I so want to hear, "Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas," -- I love Chris Isaak's version -- on this while making lots of cookies. what a great Christmas it would be! :)

Was going to pick Simon LeBon's part of "do they know it's christmas?" but someone already said that. I'd just have to go with anything by Dead Moon because holiday music is just so terrible.

    Red please.

I'm not much for religion, but I can get down right chokey about the reverence given mother and child in Christmas hymns. In that tradition, the first holiday song I would play is "Bring a Torch. Jeanette, Isabella" by Sufjan Stevens.

"Ah... ah... beautiful is the mother. Ah... ah... beautiful is her son."

    and

"Quietly come and whisper, hush...hush, peacefully now he sleeps."

I think the lo-fi popping and the sweet simplicity of the song would sound just right on a black Geneva.

    Black or white, baby.

The song I'd be blastin' is Santa Claus Go Straight To The Ghetto, by James Brown!

"Tell em James Brown sent you!"

    Yeah!

If I win this sound system I'd like to play " Where do you go to(my lovely)" from the soundtrack of Darjeeling Limited over and over again. Red, white, black? Definitely RED!
