Good Questions: "Shock Absorbers" for Media Stand?

min020609.jpgHere's a Good Question sent over to the editors at AT San Francisco having to do with "shock absorbers" to prevent damage to hardwood flooring: We own a Min Media Stand (purchased from DWR). It sits on our hardwood floors and hold all of our media equipment (dvd & cd player, receiver, etc.). When our niece and nephew come over with all of their energy from jumping around they are able to put a pause on a playing dvd or a skip on a cd...

Aside from chaining them down, are there any casters with "shock absorbers" or any other solutions folks have found helpful. Thanks.

Please let Marcus know of any solutions you've used or seen in the comments below...

i think they were looking to prevent damage to the equipment, not to the flooring. in any case, you can add silicon feet to the each component (dvd, cd) which should dampen shocks quite a bit.

Seeing that the body of that media stand is pretty slim, the feet might stand out too much. I would put maybe some cork trivets under your dvd and cd players, or slimmer silicone trivets. You'd be insulating the machine from the jumping, rather than the furniture.

Tell the kids no jumping in the house.

Just putting a rug underneath the stand would probably help some.
