Good Questions: What Seating for My Home Theater?

2007_10_01 togo.jpg

Dear AT Home Tech,

I am in the process of renovating my basement space to include a bit of a home theater space. While I am all for comfort I am also not interested in a collection of La-Z-Boy recliners with built in cupholders or any other "home theater furniture" features.

Do you have any suggestions for modern and stylish yet comfortable home theater seating that could accomodate a group of friends?

Thanks,
Chico

Hi Chico

While we are not sure what your budget is, the key is finding seating that has a high back which can support your head and neck. While this is typically not how a contemporary sofa is designed, we have sat in the Ligne Roset Togo and found it to be very comfortable. It does sit very low to the ground however which may be an issue for you.

Does anyone else have suggestions?

The Togo will likely put you too low when using standard speakers and screen heights. You could, however, build a small riser to put your seating on and use the Togo.

The above Ligne Roset is nice. B&B Italia's Tufty Time is really nice. If only either were affordable.
