Dell Sees Green and Produces Energy Efficient PCs and Screens

071608_sz_dellgreenPC.jpg If you think about it, we're all on our computers a lot. We know that for us, our computers are on pretty much 24/7. Sure we put our laptop to sleep in the evenings, but that's really not a HUGE power saver. Lately we've noticed that the green bug has even nipped the computer industry because of EPEAT -- the computer industry equivalent of LEED certification for desktops, laptops, and monitors -- and new Energy Star criteria making its way to the marketplace.

Dell is one company who seems to be consistently coming out with "green" computers...

In June the company announced the Energy Smart Vostro 410 desktop, designed to save 47 percent in annual energy costs. The Vostro 410 is available now for $600.

It also announced its first EPEAT Gold-certified display, the 20-inch E207, with a 28 percent savings in annual energy costs and with more than 25 percent of it made from recycled materials. 071608_sz_dellmonitor.jpg The E207 is available for $219.
