Green Idea: air-line Clothes Drying Concept

2008_02_12%20dyson-airline.jpg It has been a while since we have used a clothesline to dry our clothes. While hanging your clothes is the most energy efficient way to dry your clothes, it is neither fast nor particularly reliable if you live in a rainy climate and your clothesline is not covered. The Australian Design Award - Dyson Student Award concept looks to change that.

Designed by student, Daniel Fitzgerald, the "air-line" concept was developed with apartment dwellers in mind. Solar energy and ambient air are combined to dry wet clothing. The best thing about this concept is that you can't actually see the clothes when they are put out to dry. Angled metal slats conceal the clothes from sight while still allowing air to circulate and a path for the sun to heat the clothes.

I like the idea, but it looks like you can only dry like, two items at one time. I don't think I'm alone in the fact that I usually wash more than that at once. Am I seeing it wrong?

And c'mon, people, is the sight of clothing hanging on a line (or drying rack) really that offensive? The clothesline is already a pretty elegant solution (and doesn't take up space when not in use, unlike this behemoth)... I suppose it could be nice in a really rainy climate.
