
While the CRT is cheaper, much like the traditional tungsten lightbulb, a LCD offers a greener, more energy efficient solution with a reported savings of electricity of over 50%. BC Hyrdo, a Canadian power company, reports that the CRT uses 75 watts, while the LCD uses a mere 25 .
So just as we've been switching our lightbulbs in favor of more efficient solutions, you might want to consider that upgrade to LCD you've been delaying. Your electricity bill and the earth will thank you.
