SOLo Lounge Table: Solar Power Desktop

051408unplggdsolo1.jpgHmm, using electronic displays in bright sunlight is usually something we avoid, but maybe if we could afford a SOLo Lounge Table from Intelligent Forms we'd think differently. The whole tabletop is covered in solar panels placed inbetween tempered glass panels, providing over 17 kilowatts of solar energy every year (calculated under ideal Southern California conditions) via USB, lighter, and standard 3 prong outlets...

051408unplggdsolo2.jpgThe SOlo Lound Table's specs include: a LCD monitor, a device storage drawer, Bluetooth transmitter, a rechargeable battery array, and internal LEDs that give the whole table a soft glow. Under ideal conditions the table provides enough energy to power "the equivalent of over 100 mobile phone or iPod charges per day, 40 iPhone charges per day, or 3 laptop computer charges per day (or 12 hours of laptop operating power per day based on a 4-hour average battery life)". Unfortunately, this is technological wonder is going to drain your wallet of $14,000, so let's hope solar technology exponentially becomes a more viable option in the next few years.
