Sun-Tek Tube Skylights; Light With no Electricity

Because of the way homes are designed, we often need lighting during the day. This seems completely crazy when the sun is ours for the using. It seems more like we as humans should be in the business of creating shade. Enter Sun-Tek Tube skylights. With a few of these around your house/ apartment, no more will you have to turn on lights during the day.

The great thing about this design over some others is that the diffusion lenses that mount in the ceiling actually look like light fixtures so no one will be able to tell that you are stealing energy [for free] from the sun. The perfect crime. Find one at Sun-Tek or a list of other manufacturers here.

Sun-Tek also has a spyder system version which splits a normal skylightish dome into a bunch of lamps. We want a few of these for the office of the Unplggd dorm.

My friend had one of these in her kitchen, and as I was leaving to take the kids out, I was fruitlessly searching for the light switch because I thought it was a very bright light. These are great.

Yes! My mom put one in her bathroom, formerly the darkest room in her house, and the light was *amazing.* Guests always ask where the light switch is!

I can't wait till I can afford one or two of these in my dreary living room.

I've wanted one of these for ages now. A relative installed two of these in their kitchen and the effect is really impressive.

I had one installed in my previously very dark hallway to the bedrooms. It lightens the whole hallway from dawn till dusk. I also had a light-kit installed in the tube, so when evening comes, it functions as a hallway light fixture. Mine is the Veralux variety. I think it is called a sun tunnel?

Sierra- I was thinking the same thing. It would be great to have electrical counterparts melded into the design for more overall functionality. Is the light part of the package or did you diy that?
