Sycamore Ceiling Fan

2007-06-19-sycamore_fan.jpg

Biomimicry finds a new home on our ceilings with the Sycamore Ceiling Fan, designed just like the efficient Sycamore tree pod. This ceiling fan runs on lower energy consumption (1/2 the normal amount, in fact), with less noise, and has great modern looks.

Sadly, it's apparently only available in Australia at this time, though a note in the Treehugger article says they're available at Dan's Fan City here in the US. No word on price yet, either. Let us know if you spot it somewhere!

I saw another single blade fan on another web site, which is actually available for purchase (albeit quite pricey)...

I don't know if it's energy-efficient like the Sycamore Fan; but it's also very modern-looking IMHO.

Ok, this may be a dumb question, but isn't the purpose of a fan not to slice through the air as much as push it? so wouldn't a more 'efficient' fan be counter productive?
