Interior Design Ideas From the Headquarters of Time & Life

080108_sz_moneymag3.jpg Over the past two days we've been working inside the Time & Life building for a freelance gig at Money magazine. While the building and offices themselves are classic Manhattan nine to fiver décor, the elevator hallways for each magazine floor have a really awesome lighting set-up. Vintage covers have been embedded into large pieces of frosted glass and suspended from the ceiling. Halogen lights above light the covers up, using them as lampshades of sorts...

080108_sz_moneymag2.jpg We wonder if there's a way you could simulate this idea with vintage family photos that have been scanned and blown up on a printer? It would be pretty amazing to have your foyer lit up from above with beautiful black and white images of the family tree. Any ideas on how to fake this look? Maybe printing images on thick rice paper?

P.S. We love the below cover. We know that when we're blogging from home it's always from the comfort of our bubble bath with a strawberry daiquiri at arms length. 080108_sz_moneymag.jpg
