An External Hard Drive Hanging On For Dear Life

100308_tf_hanghd_m.jpgHaving an external hard drive to back up all your data is a good idea. You never know what could happen at any moment. But it's tougher for us laptop-wielding nomads. With such a portable computer, we're often left without many extras, and unfortunately, an external hard drive is one of the hardest to move around. But as these devices get smaller and smaller and start to hold more space, it looks like we'll have some options after all. We,for one, like this one, Hang It On, that clips onto the screen of your notebook for easy transport to wherever the wind may take you. Or, it just helps to declutter a tight desktop.

The Hang it On hard drive encloser lets you hang your 2.5" companion off the back of your appie’s LCD screen. Sure, now your MacBook Air looks like it has a tumor growing off it’s svelte lines, but at least you’ll get more than a measly 80 GB.

We overcame this dilemma with our WD Passport with a couple pieces of stick-on velcro. Now the external drive just sticks to the top of the laptop and we don't have to worry about it falling when we grab the computer to move it to the couch. A cheaper solution if you already own a small-size external drive.
