From Render to Real World: The Office Cube by OfficePOD

We've posted early renders of the Office Cube by OfficePOD before, a sort of dream getaway/home office designed to be placed in a backyard or garden as an axillary work getaway. The 3D renders have been replaced with some photos of a real world model, alongside an official price for pre-order...

The 2.1m x 2.1m Office Cube by OfficePOD is priced at about $24,000, constructed for tech work needs and with a portion of recycled materials. The whole unit operates almost as plug-in appliance in itself, as connections and power are designed to be connected to a main house or garage, although internet access points can be added instead of relying only upon a main wi-fi source. They don't have to sell us on the idea...we love it. Now if we could only afford a house with a garden first, and then the additional $24k for the Office Cube itself.

Though the concept is very nice, there seem to be some major practicalities overlooked. For example:

Since the pod is designed to be located outdoors, what kind of hvac system does it have?

Is some sort of screen, perhaps retractable, provided with that door? Nobody cares to be assaulted by mosquitos and other pests while at work.

Does the pod require some sort of foundation, like a concrete pad?

Since the Pod is tethered to your home, what are the unit's electrical voltage or circuit requirements?

Despite the company's interesting and innovative design, their website is vague about details. I would not be interested in even contemplating a deposit on one until a lot more information is provided.

John H: all good points.

Not to mention the fact that it's $24K for what looks like about 50 square feet. A bit pricey for most for a rather small space.
