The Steampunk... Office?

100308_tf_steam_01.jpgYou know how when a trend gets tired you can start to pinpoint exactly where it went wrong? Well, we'd like to declare Steampunk dead right here, but we're pretty sure this won't be the end. This steampunk/victorian/submarine themed office belongs to Three RingsDesign, Inc. Their office space is filled with individually customized desks, a pool table with a wall sized ‘world domination' map, a video game room with giant squid pillows, a bar with built-in kegorator, and a secret door to the Captain’s Lounge. Wait a second, that actually sounds pretty cool. Tell us your thoughts on this unique office after the jump...

It's great! I love the tentacled couch.

I love it! They make some really fun games--my boyfriend likes their Puzzle Pirates game--and I would love to work there. I wouldn't decorate my home like that but it's perfect for a gaming company!

I want that couch (it would go well with all my octopus/squid/underwater prints & kitsch) but I have to wonder how long it would take to get sick of all that decor. It'd be kind of like living in a cartoon, which would be fun at first (the stuff of childhood fantasy, let's face it) but I could see it seeping into my nightmares, and I'm a fan of cartoons and eclecticism.

holy shit, that couch is wicked!

i don't mind the steampunk, but that's because i don't have to look at it very often. :)

@ Tiamat_the_Red:

I think it is! I missed that the first time around. It's kind of damask-like at first glance. I'm sgtarting to like this space the more I look at it!

I really don't think the steampunk is the problem-- the execution here is way too cartoony. And not in that intricate, anime-style steampunk way that I love so much and hate to see maligned! I love steampunk but I think this is wretched.

I would go so far as to say that this is less steampunk and more a Verne tribute specifically. I realize they sort of occupy the same space in certain contexts, but this has a distinctly maritime flair to it which steampunk CAN, but it isn't a requisite. I mean, how steampunky are octopi anyway? I realize I am nitpicking but I am not too serious about it.

Anyhoo, a really cool office if you want everything you do to be influenced by such a specific theme.

Oh yeah, and I was tired of steampunk long before everyone else (First!).

If Steampunk is dead, MCM has post rigor mortis fatigue.

I'm with the other two who are admiring the squid themed wallpaper. Wish I could see it closer!

Love the squid couch! Want!

Only thing - I wish they'd paid as much attention to the computer monitors as to the rest of the space - they do stick out...
