Look! Modular Audio Controller

052708_sz_audiocubes2.jpgPeter Nyboer of Create Digial Music reviewed Percussa's AudioCubes. The glowing cubes control and even produce audio tracks by using infrared sensors to talk to each other...

052708_sz_audiocubes1.jpgOne cube acts as the "sender" while connected to your computer via USB, while the others receive info via infrared from the main cube. IR sensors built into four faces on each cube detect distance and communicate with other cubes. Moving your hands around the sensors changes the MIDI output of the cube, changing the cubes' orientation and distance also changes the signal. Below is Nyboer's video review.

The cubes are meant to be used either in live audio production or in the studio, but we thought it would be pretty rad if you could set these up to control your iTunes -- or better yet to control your entire home theater. One cube could fast forward through Tivo and DVDs, the other could control volume and channels... Lets hope that's an upgrade for AudioCubes 2.0.
