Open Media Library: Organize Your Digital Collections

080408_an_open_media_lib.jpgOpen Media Library is an open source solution for viewing and organizing your DVDs, stored videos, recorded shows through the Vista media center. This add-in allows users to browse their movie library all in one location. Adding a selection gives you the associated actors, producers, summaries, runtime displayed. Sounds good? Feel free to give their beta version a go.

The main layout of the project was designed to work through an extender such as the xbox360.

Plex (the OS X port of XBMC) is an excellent alternative for Mac users...it's free, amazingly beautiful, and almost completed automated when it comes to building the library.
