PlayTV, the PS3’s DVB Freeview digital TV receiver box add-on plugs in to your television aerial and hooks up to the PS3 via the USB connection, allowing you to schedule and record television shows on your PS3, effectively turning it into a true media center. Perhaps a good reason to replace the internal hard drive with a bigger one?

The recording will function fine while playing games and other such activities, so long as the USB cable is plugged in and you have firmware version 2.41. Of course, this is a Europe-only release for the time being and is set to be released on Sept. 10, 2008. The price tag is reportedly set at £60 although subject to change.
