While some of us prefer our media hidden in boxes, as seen in our guide to decluttering home theaters, others enjoy the pursuit of collecting and showcasing their goods within their media rooms. For these avid collectors of movie paraphernalia, the results are often a mixed bag between mountain of crap and systematized awesomeness. So, assuming we have an organized Star Wars geek here...
Here's a closer look at Bullen's collection before making your final decision. Personally, we dig the varying display methods seen throughout the room (which can be seen in full detail at his Minhembio profile).
If you'll notice, he doesn't stick with your standard DVDs shelves. Instead, he purchased a few mini-crafted easels and used them to display his newest movies and favorites. So, whenever friends come over, picking and choosing movies becomes a unique art-gallery experience all in itself. If that doesn't get you cool points, we don't know what would.

It's the dvds on their own little easels that does it for me. That's just ridiculous. Is there something special about his copies of Harry Potter? (And also, what's with the Showgirls boxed set?) If the dvds were lined up in a way that didn't imply his copies are better than your copies (are the covers signed?) and then the other stuff was set among them as accents, then maybe I could get behind it. But right now it just feels like he wants you to walk in and say "Wow..." and be all impressed.
Sorry. I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this one. I'm just not feeling it.

Man cave deluxe, definitely not hot. DVDs are not items that should be "featured" like art pieces.

I like it. It is what it is---a MEDIA room. And those covers on the DVDs are a highly compelling art form and are just as important as a book jacket.

a lot of home theater folks use those easels as "Now Showing" displays.

I agree with bordjon about the easels being used as a way to showcase and make new acquisitions easier for visitors to see. It's not about showing them off but about making certain parts of the collection more visible for a limited time.
I think this is great as a media room and for someone who really enjoys movies to create a comfortable, organized and tidy display to make it easier to enjoy his collection. I wouldn't do it, but I certainly think it's pretty cool that someone who enjoys a past time doesn't feel the need to hide it away in slavish devotion to some minimalist design ideal.
