I'd say this is a hot... I was on the fence at first because I didn't like the color, but then after surfing back through about six blogs to the original reference, I see that they come in other push-pinny colors like blue, orange and clear as well as the lime shown... and I'm a big fan of the blue, so thumbs up to the push pin.

I also like the idea that you push down on it to turn it on/off but would it get too hot to touch?

You know, I voted Not, but the thing is kind of growing on me...it made me chuckle at first but then I thought that it was something I would get tired of too quickly. On second thought though, I feel like I could live with it pretty permanently. It could also be really cute in a kid's room.

I voted NOT originally... Because without being told it was a push pin lamp, I couldn't really tell. Then I saw that they had a clear one, and I began to warm up to the idea... Until I realize that I can't buy it (who to these people think they are, Woot?) -- so I'm staying with NOT.

Personally I love it even though it borders on being a cliche.

But where my red swingline stapler lamp? ;-> (If you haven't seen the movie "Office Space", stop reading this, go to Target and BUY the DVD. :->)

I would like it for a child's or teen's room.

nikkiana,
Thanks for hunting down the original reference link. It would be nice if both that and the referring post would be linked to as a matter of course....

theninthcloud,
It won't get too hot at all. The plastic is thick, and the bulb inside is a tiny candelabra (or round), with a small base. I have a similarly constructed lamp from Ikea that was designed for children, and it's certainly safe to touch all over.

I blogged about this lamp a year ago. It went out of stock before I ordered my own. There's a link on the site for them to contact you when it comes back in stock but I don't think it ever did.

Just last month I searched to see if anyone else was selling it. I found a place overseas but it would be more than twice the original price of $20. If anyone finds this somewhere for the same price, please let me know.

Here's the link to the Ubergizmo story this image was pulled from: http://www.ubergizmo.com/15/archives/2007/06/pushpin_lamp_adds_a_dash_of_humor.html that shows its inflated price and the one from Ohgizmo that says it's not available. http://www.ohgizmo.com/2007/06/28/push-pin-night-stand/

I'd like it better if it were smaller and attached to a functional corkboard...so that you had regular pins and big light up pins.
