And by phone we mean rotary dial telephone. "Make sure to allow the dial to complete it's rotation before dialing the next number". Gotta love the evolution of technology. Now we buy phones so that we can send emails and complain when the web browser is running slow on our phones.
Is there going to be a tech open thread today? Gracias.

I have a children's book at home from the early 20th century, sort of a rip-off of a Little Golden Book, called Joan on the Telephone. It was all about a little girl learning how to use her telephone--technique as well as etiquette. It covered the dial (it had a play cardboard dial that spun, in fact), as well as phones that had no dial. And it talked about how to treat the operator, and the polite thing to do if you had a party line.
Oddly enough, if I were faced with a phone without a dial (or a keypad), I'd need instructions (except I don't, now that I've read that book...).
