Distilled Water is Best to Clean LCD Screens

081909_tf_dustscreen.jpgNo fancy and expensive chemicals, no crazy contraptions. This LCD-screen cleaning method is all about the right (natural) materials, a clean cloth and great technique...

All you need to get started cleaning all the dust and debris from your screen is a soft cloth (microfiber cloth is great!), a spray bottle and some distilled water (tap water contains tiny minerals that could scratch the screen).

If you've also got some oily marks to get rid of, mix equal parts of distilled water and white vinegar or isopropyl alcohol for your cleaning solution, then follow these steps:

  • Put the water (or water mix) into the spray bottle and spray it onto the cloth (Never on the screen!). The idea is to make it just slightly damp. Don't ever wipe the screen with a dry cloth.
  • Wipe the screen with horizontal and vertical movements. If you find some area needs special treatment, go over it with circular movements.
