How to: Rate Songs by 'Half Stars' in iTunes

031809_tf_halfstars.jpgYou know when you like something, and you know when you hate something. It's a pretty easily regulated concept. Like the song? Download it from the iTunes store and and jam out on your iPod. Hate a song? ::click click:: delete. But out of all those songs that made the cut and kept a spot on your library's roster, how can you pick which songs make the five-star grade, which deserve a mediocre three stars and which one-star songs you like enough to keep but not enough to want them to show up on your smart playlist?

Right now, iTunes only gives you the option to rate songs from one to five stars. But over on Instructables, user musicninja17 shows us how to modify the settings in iTunes and get a little more control over our song ratings.

There are separate instructions for both Mac and PCs, but both involve instructions to get down and dirty in some code. For the type that don't read and follow directions (and probably have a MALM dresser with an upside-down drawer in their bedroom), good luck. The rest of you can check out the directions (Mac users should skip to step #6) here at Instructables.

I don't really get into the whole song rating thing but, I love that this worked so easily.
