How To... Film Time Lapse Video of Garden Growth

Over the past week, every time we walk our pup we're reminded of the fact that Spring is upon us. It's as if overnight all the trees, shrubs, and flowers agreed it was time to push out some blossoms. Even our backyard, which has for the most part been ignored, is starting to bloom. We've yet to plant any bulbs, but when we do we're considering getting a time lapse camera so we can squeal at every millimeter of growth as it happens.

Available at Hammacher Schlemmer, the Timelapse Garden Video Camera snaps a photo at regular intervals (you choose how often -- from every five seconds to every 24 hours) and then pastes them together into a 1,280 x 1,024 video...

040109_sz_timelapse.jpg The garden gadget is weatherproof so you don't have to worry about your $160 purchase during April showers, and can take up to 18,000 frames that it saves on a 2 gig removable flash drive. A light sensor turns off the camera at dusk and back on at dawn so you don't waste any shots on pitch black nothingness.

While the above video wasn't made by the TGVC, maybe it'll give you some inspiration...
