How to: Make Your TiVo Status Bar Disappear

111309_tf_tivoremote.jpgAs a general group, us aesthetes can be known to be mildly obsessive-compulsive about silly visual things—like when the status bar on our TV screen won't go away fast enough.

Thankfully for freaks and geeks like us, GeekSugar steps in with a remote control cheat code that will make your TiVo status bar go away on command (Some say it's been know to stick around longer than wanted).

So just memorize this sequence and practice until you've got the fastest fingers on the block:

Select, Play, Select, Pause, Select

it's technically called the "trickplay bar". but you can just hit the clear button if it's up for too long. i.e. when you've paused at the end of two and a half men and want to read that last line of chuck lorre's vanity card.

Good luck making your Tivo bill go away. They kept on charging me for months despite constant calls to end the service. They took me for months of fees after the Tivo box died and I finally gave up trying to get the money back. I did however swear to mention it every time I ever hear the four letter word 'tivo' again.

SPG, i had that problem with verizon (so, granted, not an identical issue -- but they charged me without giving me any service) but i finally got fed up and went to the BBB, and filed a complaint that big red owed me money, and BOY did they cut me a check fast. might work for you as well.
