How To: Remove CD Wrappers and Stickers
Steven Leckart of Cool Tools posted this helpful video clip of a problem we both imagine should become less of an issue as the format disappears from the popular landscape. But still, the advice is appreciated because CD shrinkwrap was obviously a test meant for Job. Details below from Steven alongside an additional clip...
1) To cut the shrinkwrap, vigorously rub one side of the disc on the corner or leg of a desk (preferably a metal one). Don't rub the face of the case, otherwise you'll scratch it. 2) To remove the barcode sticker binding the edge of the case: pry open the case at the hinges, then use the leverage to pull the sticker off in one long, quick movement.-Quick Ways To Open a Shrinkwrapped CD (and some other great misc. tips from Steven)

I thought this was common knowledge?
I used to work in a large gaming retailer in the UK and the first thing I learnt was to get the top of the case in the wrapping and a square edge.
It works better on wood and if done right you only need one swift movement and the plastic wrapping will come off a lot easier than in those vids.

i don't get it with the taking the whole case apart to get the sticker off.

mp3s are not the equivalents of CDs. You dont have to buy CDs if you dont wanna, but dont kid yourself into thinking you have moved on. If you buy a lossless song online- great, but mp3s are, by their very definition, less than CD quality.
