1) To cut the shrinkwrap, vigorously rub one side of the disc on the corner or leg of a desk (preferably a metal one). I thought this was common knowledge?
I used to work in a large gaming retailer in the UK and the first thing I learnt was to get the top of the case in the wrapping and a square edge.
It works better on wood and if done right you only need one swift movement and the plastic wrapping will come off a lot easier than in those vids.

mp3s are not the equivalents of CDs. You dont have to buy CDs if you dont wanna, but dont kid yourself into thinking you have moved on. If you buy a lossless song online- great, but mp3s are, by their very definition, less than CD quality.
