Soooo slow. Do you find yourself saying this when you go to boot up your PC? We all understand that shutting down is one of the best ways to conserve energy, it's the starting back up again that can test our patience. Lifehacker has a short video on how to speed up the start up and shut down process. How? By shortening the default windows settings for killing frozen apps automatically. Just make sure you backup everything before making any changes.

Instead of clicking willy-nilly through regedit, I figured it'd be easier to download a registry file: http://benizi.com/faster.reg

Then just double-click it to add it to your registry. It makes the same changes that the video did.
