We've heard of freezing batteries. But boiling hard drives, that's a first. We stumbled across this site that described a failed attempt to recover a dying hard drive, and the ingenuity that arose out of his antics.

He tried, what he called the usual methods of freezing and tapping the hard drive in order to try to wake it back up. But success only came when he heated the hard drive in a double boiler to a "hot to the touch" temperature. His reasoning, maybe the heads were stuck and heat would help get things running. And it worked, he quickly connected the warm hard drive and recovered his files before it cooled off. Perhaps not the first tactic to try, but when you've given up all hope of recovering your data, why not stick it in a double boiler?
Ha... I dare anyone to try this for their iPhone.
