Looking to buy a new TV? If you're not lucky enough to win the TV we're giving away, but still want something new, there are a number of resources available to you.
A good place to start is with CNET's TV Buying Guide, which walks you through everything to look for in a new TV, including budget and room layout considerations.
Have you found a good resource for information about buying a TV? Let us know in the comments!
Both Best Buy and Circuit City are advertising their ability to get you set up with HD in 3 or 4 steps. Of course, this will be the costliest method of going about getting a new TV, but it will also be the easiest.
Circuit City's site has an advantage over Best Buy's while in the research phase: they've partnered with Consumer Reports to bring buying advice (not product reviews, those you have to subscribe to Consumer Reports to get) to Circuit City's website. When you're in the research phase, learning about the new terminology or what to look for, this could be very useful.
Consumer Reports' main site is also useful because they get into product recommendations. They have some information available without a subscription, and they have subscriptions starting at $6 a month for on-line access to their data.
we bought our plasma from plasma.com--they are friendly-deliver in nyc and VERY helpful
they walked us through everything and they are certified (pioneer dealers in our case) which makes our warranty valid
we paid 2000 less than best buy by buying a monitor instead of tv with speakers--if you have a theatre system you will never use those tv speakers anyway

Assuming that you'll be going for an LCD or plasma, you probably should read this article: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/25/business/yourmoney/25TELE.html?ex=1345780800&en=d6b2eed0274b9643&ei=5124&partner=permalink&exprod=permalink

The hardest thing about buying it is forking over the cash today for something that will cost half as much next month.
Save your money and wait. If you're lucky, you will never buy the TV :)
