Make Your Own Charging Pocket from a Shampoo Bottle

070809shampooholder.jpgAt home, we've got our cell phone's power cord "wired" (read: we taped it) behind the headboard, giving us just a little piece of the business end of the charger sitting on our pedestal nightstand. But when we travel, or while we're at work, a DIY caddy like this one would be perfect for tucking our 'Berry to sleep at night...

By simply following the photo diagrams at Makezine.com, you could turn an empty (and clean! lets not forget...) shampoo bottle—or any other plastic bottle that suits your needs and tastes, really—just with a razor blade.

The result is a not-a-cup, not-a-shelf cell caddy that hangs from the outlet where the power cord is plugged in. It's essentially a DIY knock-off of ThinkGeek's $20 "The Power Shelf". Your phone will be snug as a bug in a rug.

It's a brilliant idea that's not completely new to the scene (we even showed you something very similar recently), but a good tip like this one never gets old.

Those chargers are major vampires. Do not leave them plugged in, they can while unused consume up to 90% of the same electricity they would while charging.
