ICFF 2009: Areaware Torch Flashlight

This past week after attending ICFF and heading out from the city, we found ourselves in one of those situations where you need a specific tool you don't normally worry about, but really need when you do. We were staying out in the countryside between two houses where there was no exterior lighting. The only light was from starlight and that made the short walk feel like a blackened eternity where the whole walk was a test against our overactive imagination. A flashlight would surely have come in handy, but all the ones in the household were broken or without batteries. If only we had the (only) flashlight we had seen just a few days before at ICFF from Areaware...

The Areaware Torch Flashlight designed by Jonas Damon reminds us a lot of those wonderful European wooden toys our parents would never buy us...the type of object that lasts for ages because of the durable material of wood. An energy efficient LED bulb is a nice contrast to the warm hued wood finish, and the comfortable to hold Torch puts out 160 Lumens in use; we also loved how the blue-cold LED light looked against the wood while shining forth from it, something you wouldn't necessarily notice in the dark though.
