Waking up is just that tough, that designers are racking their brains to figure out a way to get us out of bed. First, there was Clocky, the alarm clock that rolls away. Now there's the Alarm Rug. Sadly, it's still a concept piece.
This little rug sits unobtrusively by your bed, and when its time to get up the fun begins. It's alarm won't shutup until you've placed both feet firmly upon it. We're already thinking of ways to trick it into thinking we're already awake. What's to stop you from reaching out of bed and using your hands? Does it have a feet sensor?
Regardless, it wins points with us for trying, and if you'd rather not have a clock sitting by your bed this offers a pretty discreet alarm solution.

Awesome idea! I could really use one of these. If it could recognize your bodyweight /- a few fluctuation pounds it would prevent cheating... you could also set a separate alarm for your significant other that they could only turn off with their body weight (assuming your weights are different enough). Better yet... mash it up with dance dance revolution or simon and it would force you to do a silly dance/step combination to turn off the alarm.
