A tiny little laptop. That is what Palm's new Foleo reminds us of. If you've outgrown your Blackberry or Smartphone, Palm is hoping you might want to return to the original PDA powerhouse.
With its 10 inch screen and full-sized keyboard we're not quite sure how this fits into the technology spectrum. Billed as a "mobile companion" Palm wants us to add yet another device to our collection. Personally, if we need to read a pdf or type a email (which is what Palm is promoting this device for), we would just prefer to tote our laptop along. But for the tech-lover who has everything, we can imagine it will be added to quite a few households.
It will be available sometime this summer and cost around $500.

This device just leaves me cold. For that size, I might as well be carrying around a *real* laptop like the Sony Vaio TX/TZ series or a UMPC-class device. The laptop can run a full-featured OS, the real Office, has a longer battery life (the TX is about 8 hours) and has the horsepower to watch YouTube videos if I so desire. Sure, it's cheap, but you can buy a very decent laptop for just $200 more (remember, the $500 price is after an introductory $100 rebate). The only thing I do like about it is its instant-on capability.
