Seagate Announces Barracuda 1.5TB 7200.11 Hard Drives

seagate_barracuda_1-5tb.jpgJust to get everyone up to speed, we would like to point out that Seagate has just announced another record-breaking jump in space as they cram the impossible - a whole 1500GB of data - into a 3.5" enclosure. That's a lot of media, even for our standards.

The 1.5TB monster is set to be released sometime in August and will probably retail for about as much as when the first 1TB hard drives came out. Anyone think we're going to hit the petabyte anytime soon? My prediction says 2010. Any takers?

2 years to a petabyte? I'll take the negative on that bet..

Figuring it doubles every year, 1.5 = 2008, 3 = 2009, 6 = 2010.... 2018 = 1536 before we cross the petabyte line..
