A Room Designed with Cable Ties

081508_sz_thirdspace.jpg Now this is some serious inspiration. Fifty-two German design students recently installed a temporary exhibit at Munich's Modern Art Museum called The Third Space.

The students built this heavenly bird's nest-like space using almost 1,300,000 cable ties -- those things we all use to organize the mess of wires under our desks...

The whole project took 16,870 hours and spans seven square miles. How beautiful would it be to have a space in your house like this? Next time you buy a bag of ties for your wire management try using the extras to make a mini Third Space. 081508_sz_thirdspace2.jpg

This would have been so much fun to create. I have a weird addiction to those zip ties.

It looks like giant sacks of spider eggs.

It is therefore really, really creepy to me.
