Our friends at KNQ Associates recently posted this before & after of a decor project they completed in Singapore for a client who wanted to revamp their whole home. The home offices are wonderfully designed to take advantage of limited space, but what we most liked was the huge sliding wall art panel that hides a TV set behind it...
KNQ Associates' solution gives the space the option to eliminate the television as the focal point of the room, something we recommend in any setting, no matter how amazing your set. The sliding panel could also be a wall mounted framed mirror, which would give the room an even larger sense of perceived space (while also hinting that there's something to look at behind the panels from an abstract perspective).

Matt. M: if you look carefully, I believe you can spy that they created a false wall for the recessed section for the television. Not necessarily realistic for renters, but certainly within the realm of reason for a home owner to do themselves or hire out.

clever, but what's the point really when the rest of the room is clearly oriented and arranged for TV watching? makes the now-you-see-TV-now-you-don't trick seem more gimmicky than anything.
