Inspiration: Create Your Own iPhone

2007-06-15-iphone-winphone-head.png

Tired of reading about the iPhone. We sure are, mostly because we won't be getting one when it comes out. In the overwhelming iPhone coverage there seem to be two camps emerging: the lovers and the haters. Lifehacker, however, takes a middle stance with their Hack Attack: Turn your Windows phone into an iPhone. They can't swallow the $500 price tag either, so they've discovered some hacks to make their phone have iPhone-esque features and interface.

This little video shows you exactly what it will look like. And Lifehacker gives you step-by-step instructions here.

We'd love to hear if anyone tries this. Let us know what you think!

I tried this out and the application launcher doesn't work on phones without a touchscreen (my poor little T-Mobile Dash included)
However, the screen locking/clock application does work, with a little tweaking. So, if you're adventurous enough to try it, make sure you download a registry editing application (like Mobile Registry Editor) and tweak away. I like how it looks!
It'd be even better with a touchscreen....sigh.

I think this is hilarious. People are so gaga over the iPhone's glitz that they want their phones to look exactly like it even at the cost of convenience. I lock and unlock my T-Mobile MDA by hitting the power button on top. I've never accidentally locked or unlocked the phone when I didn't mean to. Sliding a confirm bar is a hassle in comparison. Ditto the home screen. Windows Mobile's only genius feature, the Today screen, is turned into a simple launcher. Yay.

Call me when someone comes out with a finger scroller (or rips it from the Touch ROM).Or comes up with a decent AJAX-capable web browser for WM.
