TVs can be a pain when trying to decorate and we're fighting with ours at the moment. How exactly does one decorate around a TV? In fact, we'll admit our living room's TV wall looks much like this one.....bare. We'd mount it on the wall, if that were an option, but we're in a early 20th century rental with walls that can barely hold a nail. So, we've been looking for inspiration on how one integrates the television into their decor. Check out what we've found after the jump.

My favorite solution - or at least my personal one - is to not have a TV. But yes, I know that won't work for many people. But for some, it might be worth a thought.
I also like the TV cozy idea from an old Apartment Therapy posting.

It's easy to decorate without a tv. Like the above commenter, I know that it's not an "option" for many people.

Holy TV haters. I know it's cool and all, to hate TV, but some do watch DVD's or TiVo some good programming. My biggest design pet peeve is when someone sticks their TV in a cabinet to hide it as if it's dirty.
I think that room would be easy to blend things 'cause of the way the walls recede back in parts and there are little nooks. Put the TV closer to the wall in that little section to the right of the former fireplace (a friend has that tv and stand and it's triangular, to fit into a corner). Then put some colour on those walls and hang some art. Find a big, tall print or painting to go where the fireplace used to be and that will grab everyone's attention. Lastly, I'd put up some heavier curtains and throw a rug down in the area in front of the TV for better acoustics.
That recessed area where the fireplace was would be perfect for hanging a light -- the type that stick out from the wall to illuminate paintings or framed photos. A light on a beautiful painting (could even be something of your creation on an art store canvas, or cool fabric stretched over the canvas and stapled) and no one would even notice there was a TV there. But it would still be easily accessible and you wouldn't have to uncover it every time you wanted to watch something.

I just rearranged my living room and put a shoji screen behind my tv stand. The shoji screen has shelves through it (http://www.stacksandstacks.com/html/102308_shoji-screen-with-shelving.htm), which house my L and R front surround speakers, as well as a plant and other decor. It helps blend it in a bit to my living room. I'll try and post a pic later.
