Baby Monitor App Notifies Parents Using iPhone Mic

We don't know about you, but it seems like everyone around us having babies. And with the arrival of babies means an assorted array of baby gear. Our favourite has always been baby video monitoring systems, only because the quality of most of the displays remind us of that episode of LOST when the gang first see Mikhail staring back at them from the then hidden hatch, except babies are usually smaller and normally do not don eye patches (but should!). We always thought an iPhone app that allowed for distant viewing of your bundle of joy would be a useful tool for parents who need to step out for just a moment, out in the backyard or anywhere where monitoring the baby requires some tech help. Alas, nobody has yet offered an integrated cam-with-iPhone solution, but there is this Baby Monitor iPhone app which detects noise to warn you when Jr. is ready for his next meal or a change of diapers...

Monitor your sleeping baby with this iPhone app. Simply place the iPhone near your sleeping baby, if it detects noise, it places a phone call to the number of your choice, you can then listen in for activity from your baby. Great for when you are on the go or traveling, no need to pack your regular baby monitor. One feature that makes this application exceptional is that the monitor has unlimited range!

except you have to have two phones...
and i'm guessing you have to have the app on which means it'll likely put a drain on your battery.

so what's wrong with a normal baby monitor?

I am a mom of two under two, and my husband and I just launched an iPhone app for parents called Baby Brain.

It is a really easy-to-use tool that allows you to log, analyze and share your baby's info (feedings, diapers, sleep, etc.) It holds unlimited data and is designed just for tired parents (easy!)

as far as video monitoring goes - couldn't you just set up a webcam to monitor your child and access it through your home wifi or the internet. I'm sure something like this already exists, but was originally intended to be used with a laptop or remote computer, which the iphone practically is.
