Look! New Shrunken iPhone Available: Not Made By Apple!

041509_rg_shrunkeniphone_01.jpgRumors have been circulating for years now about the iPhone Nano. Will Apple ever release it? The trouble is that more and more companies are coming up with iPhone-like devices that will fill the gap in sizes. This is a one of those, it's not made by Apple, but it looks pretty sweet. It looks pretty well made and put together, so it shouldn't just fall apart once you get it home.

041509_rg_shrunkeniphone_02.jpgThis is a Chinese knock-off that's called the CECT m188. It's the size of a credit card and has an iPhone-like menu. The 2.6-inch screen is capacitative, but you'd best used the stylus to hit those tiny icons. One thing is for sure, it's definitely not an iPhone. Still, the phone comes completely unlocked and is a tri-band GSM so it will work around the world. The m188 accepts dual SIM cards, which is also a nice touch. This is perfect for when you are traveling internationally. You never want to get his with roaming from your carrier while you're abroad, you want to purchase a pay-as-you-go SIM card and smack it into your phone. Since this phone accepts two SIM cards, swapping cards becomes less of a hassle. This is very useful in Europe and Asia.

The phone has got GPRS, a built-in MP3 player, it naturally plays a bunch of videos and it's got an FM radio. There is a camera, but the screen resolution is pretty low. The really good news is that it's available right now for about $100. Not bad! [via Technabob]

Here is a video of it in action.

This is what the tech site "Engadget" would call a "Crapgadget" or a "KIRF"... keeping it real fake. Read the fine print on the back of that thing... it can not, and should not be for sale in the developed world.

How is this not infringement?

i don't think that apple will make a smaller sized iPhone - all of the apps in the app store would no longer be compatible because of the smaller screen.

It totally sucks you guys are peddling crapgadgets like this. Whoever wrote this piece (of sh*t) has no idea about what they're talking about.

"It looks pretty well made and put together, so it shouldn't just fall apart once you get it home." Oh really? In your expert opinion, this counterfeit, gray-market, copyright-infringing techno-crap looks better than most? Didn't know Unplggd was such an authority on this stuff.

Please, don't insult us with posts like this. I'll go to Chinatown if I want to see crap like this.
