Sonic Lighter: Making Fire Go High-Tech

091908_tf_soniclighter_01.jpgHolding up lights at concerts is a trend that won't go away. It started with cigarette lighters waved high and proud during "Freebird." But now, even as society shuns smokers and people stop carrying lighters, people are raising up their cell phones with screens glowing proud all around the arena. This iPhone application from Smule wasn't designed for concerts, but rather as a cool global app that lets you "ignite" iPhones nearby with the application installed and trace all of the ignited flames all around the world.

091908_tf_soniclighter_02.jpgSonic Lighter displays a flame on your iPhone's touch screen. You can turn and tilt the phone and play with the flame with your fingertips. Blow into the microphone to extinguish your flame. Hold your speaker next to a friend's microphone and ignite their flame. double-click on the flame and see a global map of Sonic Lighter flames all around the world.

Or, you know, hold it high at a Bon Jovi concert. Whatever you're into.
