We don't normally report much on the mobile device front, since they normally fall outside of the home device category. But the Apple iPhone (and its Touch sibling) is one of those cross-over devices we see being used in a variety of home tasks; we use our own unit to control our iTunes remotely and hope to make it the remote control for our HTPC in the works.
So we took special interest from an industrial design aesthetic standpoint when The iPod Observer reported that the upcoming 3G iPhone will possibly be sporting some new duds : Apparently the new iPhone will also sport a glossy black back, replacing the satin nickel look found on the current model.
If iPodOberver.com's source is correct, the redesigned iPhone back also drops the black plastic end piece that covers the antenna, and it appears that Apple will continue to offer an 8GB model.

There's a lot of discussion in the comments section at the link above whether the photo above is of a colorwared iPhone, though it seems most mention comparing to other colorwared phones, many are saying it is unlikely. Not conclusive in either direction.
